(30 APRIL, evening)
UCIZONI* announces:
Despite the continued harassment by state and local police forces, as well as members of the National Guard and Navy, the guard post at the Mogoñe Viejo-Vixidu section of the Tehuantepec Isthmus railroad has been in place for 63 days today. In addition, Camp Tierra y Libertad has been re-established. The tension is high, firstly because of the before mentioned harassment and secondly because it has become known that several arrest warrants have been issued for some of the participants in the camp.
As for the compañeras who were arrested during the eviction on April 28, we would like to inform you that they are being held in the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca. The compañeras report mistreatment and one of them of abuse by a Navy captain. The legal process is in its initial stages and they are accused of alleged responsibility for attacks on general liaison routes.
The lawyers continue to take care of the case. Camp Tierra y Libertad expresses its gratitude for the active expressions of solidarity from the organizations Maíz, Corriente del Pueblo Sol Rojo, Asamblea de Pueblos del Istmo, Red todos los Derechos para Todos y Todas, Frente de Organizaciones Oaxaqueñas and Frente No a la Minería por un Futuro de Todas y Todos, as well as municipal and agrarian leaders of the communities: Magdalena Ocotlán, Monte del Toro, San Matias Chilazoa, San Martín de los Cansecos, Los Ocotes, el Vergel, el Llano Sitio Santiago, all located in the state of Oaxaca; and the solidarity action in Zurich, Switzerland.
More information to follow.
